I can really recommend Jemal Hussein of Simien Park Tours who provided a 2 nights/3 day trek in Simiens. Jemal is very knowledgeable about birds (one of our main interests) as well as the plants and other animals and he was very thoughtful in accommodating the varying fitness levels and abilities of a group ranging from 10 to 60 years. All arrangements went well and we had 3 course meals cooked for us at the campsite on both nights. We all had a brilliant time even though for some of us walking at 4,000 metres was hard work. The views are amongst the most stunning we have seen in our lives. I highly recommend the Simiens and it was one of the best trips.

The four day trip in the Simiens was absolutely an unbelievable experience. Great landscapes, cliffs and views. Walking between gelada bavoons, meeting the Ethiopian wolf, seeing Walia Ibex at the steep cliffs, watching the lammergeyer fly by.... Our guide Dessie was the best, he is born there, helps everyone with everything and is a great guy! Some people complain about the road not being good, and lack of electricity... well at least the park is not overcrowded and spoiled by infrastructure like say the Alps. True adventure in the wild!
